Boiler Scrappage Scheme

In December 2009 the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, announced plans for a Boiler Scrappage Scheme, allocating cash to allow those with the most inefficient of boilers to get financial support when upgrading to a more modern unit.

Initial news suggests that from April 2010 the Boiler Scrappage Scheme would give some 125,000 households the right to claim up to £400 towards the purchase and installation of a new, high-efficiency boiler. In a typical 3 bedroom house the estimated fuel saving could be as high as £250 per year.

Currently the Boiler Scrappage Scheme is only for "G-rated" (on the SEDBUK scale) boilers, and is only available for homes in England and Wales, although there is call for this scheme to be made available in Scotland too. For more information about the scheme and your eligibility, aswell as signing up for our email updates visit our page dedication to Boiler Scrappage Scheme news.
